Graxious Longwood III was born to parents Zertheous and Sarara Longwood in Elysia - a hidden village located within the Coastalyie Rainforest between the country of Terick and the Paradisian Coast on the continent of Otheria.

He grew up being taught that the village had been built by their ancestors many years ago as a shrine to Seedara, The Bloom of Life. He was also taught of his namesake - a legendary Leonin from the founding of Elysia - and that he was the third of the Longwood Family to be named after this figure.

His mother a holy person of The Bloom of Life, and his father a wise yet retired soldier and adventurer - Graxious was raised with an overall respect for balance.

His mother raised him to respect the delicate balance of nature whilst his father taught him to balance aggression and restraint in order to become a skilled warrior and honourable protector.

Graxious was inspired by the tales and lessons of his parents and the other adults in the village, dreaming of one day exploring the entire continent of Otheria.

Graxious’s skills would grow as he developed a devout and lasting faith in Seedara as his mother had before him. Maturity would bring the young Leonin an appreciation for the overt delicacy and yet subtle brutality that nature presents Mortals on a daily basis. He would learn to channel the divine gifts of The Bloom of Life into his fighting style. He pledged an oath of loyalty, and became a Paladin of hers.

One day; Zertheous would fall ill with an unknown and incurable disease that rapidly sapped his remaining strength and vitality. Graxious took over many of his father’s duties within the village after this and proved to be an effective leader with his gentle yet stern demeanour.

Zertheous; on his death bed, told Graxious the truth behind one of the stories he’d been told as a child.

In Zertheous’ youth; he’d been granted a powerful a legendary sword; known as Eriana’s Vow, that he was granted in order to defend Elysia from an attack by outsiders from Terick or the Paradisian Coast. He revealed that it was during this battle that he sustained the injury that would force him into an early retirement, but the blade proved to be enough to shift the tides of battle and the incursion was repelled. Zertheous conveyed that it was said that Eriana’s Vow had been created by a legendary blacksmith from the distant continent of Vylderica a long time ago.

Zertheous continued the story saying that a few years of peace would pass before his estranged and banished brother; Graxious’ Uncle Drethos Longwood, returned to Elysia and challenged Zertheous to a duel, with the winner claiming the blade as his own. Despite his attempts to stop it; Zertheous was not in shape nor an able-bodied warrior anymore, Drethos Longwood won the duel and took Eriana’s Vow. No one from Elysia saw Drethos Longwood again.

Zertheous confessed to Graxious as his dying wish; he wished to see Eriana’s Vow returned to Elysia and to be wielded by an honourable member of the Longwood Family once again.

The entire town of Elysia mourned the loss of Zertheous Longwood with a public funeral. Graxious comforted his mother as she heavily grieved the sudden loss of her Husband and life-partner - reassuring her they’d be reunited with The Bloom of Life one day.

Graxious; charged with his father’s last wishes, left Elysia for the first time in his life and explored areas in the Paradisian Coast trying to find clues about Drethos Longwood.

Months passed without much in the way of a concrete lead and multiple avenues running into dead-ends - Graxious began to feel aloof with the reality of the search for his Uncle. One day; whilst drinking in a tavern of Port Gilmark, Graxious met a Triton man named Gazeg who conferred information about a group of raiders in the North Eastern town of Rookwell in the country of Terick.

Graxious wasn’t paying much mind to Gazeg’s tip until he heard mention of one of the raiders who vaguely matched the description of Drethos Longwood. Graxious thanked Gazeg for the tip and headed to Terick. With a multi-week journey requiring passage through Grandoar’s Gate and the Shadesorrow Forest, Graxious was rejuvenated with a sense of adventure ahead of him.
