The story of your character’s life from their own perspective - events here only include information they know prior to the campaign starting.

Lady was born to parents Ignis Snowblood; a historically powerful fighter and dedicated man, and Vindicta Snowblood; a caring yet strong woman, in the Winter of 900 PD. At least, that’s what her adoptive mother Gratia Salvator has told her about them. Her father had been killed; murdered in cold-blood by a once-trusted adviser, whilst her mother was pregnant with her. Gratia promised Lady that she’d teach her more about her lineage as she grew older.

Gratia Salvator raised Lady as her own child, and she grew up around the other Orphans at Saving Grace Monastery - hidden in the mountains between Terick and Stahn. There she was taught to channel her natural energy or ‘Ki’ by the Monks who had lived there for years. By 12 years old; Lady had become an adept student and fully committed to refining her martial prowess; it was around this age that her hair began to tinge a faint blood red. Confused; she questioned Gratia about it.

Gratia Salvator divulged some of the truth about her lineage; detailing the common features of the Snowblood Family - the hair, eyes, and sigil being the prominent three - as well as very vaguely outlining the reality of the Snowblood Curse. From this day onwards Lady began to detest her inherited traits and the curse they constantly reminded her of. She openly declared to Gratia that she would find a way to end the curse no matter the cost.

The next day, Gratia could see that Lady was distracted during her routine Monk training and pulled her aside; deciding it was time to fully explain her origins. She explained to Lady that her family; the Salvators, had acted as historians for the Snowbloods for several hundreds of years and was part of the initial alliance between the two families. Gratia took Lady down to a hidden room with the Monastery and gave her access to a chamber filled with scrolls, tomes, and knowledge about her lineage.

“In this room lies a document about every member in your family from Phoenicia Snowblood to your Father; their various affects, powers, descendants, and their downfall is recorded somewhere in here.

I know you hate your curse, and I do not blame you for that - I saw so much of your Father in you yesterday. It’s time I tell you the full truth.”
- Gratia to Lady about the hidden chamber.

Gratia; reading from a half-open tome on a desk nearby her, divulged the full truth of her Father’s death at the hands of Serpens Cupiditas; the leader of a private military group called Caritas, as well as her Mother’s decision to leave Lady with her whilst she made a play to take revenge for her fallen Husband.

“I’ve told you before that Ignis Snowblood was betrayed by one of his advisers; that man was the leader of a small army known as Caritas - a man named Serpens Cupiditas.

Caritas claimed to provide military aid for those who couldn’t afford it and your Father believed Serpens’ lies. For 5 years, it was a prosperous agreement between the Snowbloods and Caritas - it was the first time in over 100 years they’d lived outside of our Monastery - however once your Father’s sigil awakened, that’s when that snake bore his fangs.

Baiulus Bellum and Aegrus Aggredior; Serpens’ generals, cornered your Father during a training exercise one day and began attacking him. Serpens and your Mother; who was pregnant with you, appeared shortly after and seemed to quell the fight for a just a moment before Serpens drove a dagger into your Father’s chest.

He then framed your Mother for the crime; as was within his legal power of this land, and put in a clause of a forced marriage; planned for after your birth, as part of her atonement.

On the night you were born; she handed you to me and told me to flee under the cover of the Snow. I never saw your Mother again after that night; I presume she failed to exact her revenge for her Husband…”
- Gratia to Lady about the hidden chamber.

On the day of her 18th birthday; having completed her fundamental martial training, Lady was allowed to explore the outside world should she so choose to. Gratia Salvator also presented a special; yet clearly worn, envelope with the Snowblood sigil on the seal.

“The night you were born your mother made me promise not to show you; or even look at this myself, until you came of age.

She scrawled something down on paper and sealed it, before handing both you and it to me. I fled under darkness whilst she made a distraction…

I just hope she took one of them down with her.”
- Gratia Salvator to Lady about the letter

The contents of the letter contained just three names; barely legible due to the scribble they were written in.

Baiulus Bellum Aegrus Aggredior Serpens Cupiditas
- The contents of the letter left for Lady by Vindicta Snowblood

Lady grabbed her essentials and headed out into the cold lands around the Monastery - eager to seek out Baiulus Bellum; one of Serpens’ generals, who had killed her Father and likely her Mother.

The next two years were filled with let downs, and taught Lady to be very careful with who; and how, she trusts strangers. Between expeditions around the frigid countryside of Stahn - she returned home to refill her supplies, seek guidance from others from Saving Grace Monastery, and mentor the other children. She tried to bring back at least one new thing from the outside world to help impart wisdom/worldliness on the orphans.

On her most recent expedition; Lady decided she would head South and cross the border into the neighbouring country of Terick. Whilst resting at a run-down tavern in the town of Orestead; she heard news that a town to the Southwest; known as Rookwell, had been struggling with a raider problem. She was about to tune the rest of that conversation out before she heard one of the men moving that direction mention the name “Bellum” and she quickly collected her things and followed behind a safe distance.

Upon arriving in Rookwell; she followed the man to the Ironwood Tavern where she discretely entered and waited for the right moment to get the answers she’d been looking for.

Gratia Salvator - Adoptive Mother

Gratia took Lady in as her own child - charged with doing so by Vindicta Snowblood in her final hours. Gratia was transparent with Lady about her origins but tried to temper the fiery nature that her lineage was known for with the teachings of Saving Grace Monastery. The first time Lady left the Monastery, she was terrified of what might happen but understood her comfort would come the cost of Lady’s personal development and happiness - stepping aside to let her take those steps.
