Snowblood Family

The Snowblood lineage is a tragic and yet storied family history that dates back over one thousand years; at the tail end of The Cataclysm. This longevity is quite significant as not a single member of the bloodline has lived past the age of 30.

They are family who’ve demonstrated a great aptitude for martial prowess and discipline - with even junior members of the family being feared by seasoned veterans for their raw skill and power. This potential has never been fully realized due to the untimely demise of each of the members, either by causes unknown or by those who are fear what a full-powered Snowblood could do. This reality is the basis of their titular Snowblood Curse, with the legends changing and growing over the generations.

Their history is one of survival and adaptation - learning to wear various hats throughout the burgeoning history of the Post-Departure era. Much of their history is preserved/told from the lens of the Salvator Family; a group of archivists who have had a long-standing relationship with the Snowbloods.

The family’s titular Snowblood Curse is not well understood, even by those afflicted by it.

“And so, a ‘curse’ it is, as this so-called ‘extraordinary power within’ has never led one to anywhere but an early grave…”
- Excerpt from a forgotten Snowblood’s journal describing the curse on the final pages of their journal

There are a few clear signature characteristics of the Snowblood Curse’s activation:

  • The signature red-ringed pale eyes.
  • Increasingly blood-tinged hair, starting as fully black with blood-red tips.
  • A birthmark on their upper back; somewhere between a tattoo and a branding, which details the outline of a fallen phoenix in red. The wings of the Phoenix are frozen by ice whilst a singular tear made of flame rolls down it’s face.

There have been other markings that some members in the family have presented but these are less common/specific to those individuals.

The original tellings of the Snowblood Curse speak of the sigil on her back evolving and changing as she grew in power. Until recently it had never been seen since, leaving scholars to rule it out as embellishment, hyperbole, or metaphor. That was until Ignis Snowblood; the most recent living male heir and the family’s greatest martial artist in the contemporary history, demonstrating the same affect in his early 20s.

Based on the fact that only Phoenicia Snowblood; the founding member of the family, and Ignis Snowblood; a prodigy amongst a family of prodigies, has led scholars to believe that the curse mark’s evolution is one of or the final stages; if the not the final stage, in awakening the Snowblood potential.

Phoenicia Snowblood, born ???
Founding Member
The founding member of the Snowblood Family. She was a powerful and revered martial artist during the end of The Cataclysm.

Ignis Snowblood, born 871 PD & died 900 PD

Ignis Snowblood was one of the strongest Snowbloods in modern history. His prowess and control over the Snowblood Curse was known across and beyond the borders of Stahn. He is the only recorded member since Phoenicia Snowblood herself to produce the evolution markers of the curse. His death came at the hands of a tragic betrayal by long-time confidant Serpens Cupiditas. His legacy is succeeded by Lady Snowblood thanks to the heroics of his wife Vindicta Snowblood.

Vindicta Snowblood, born 872 PD

Vindicta Snowblood grew up in the wilderness of Stahn where she met Ignis Snowblood after being attacked by a bear. She introduced him to leader of her community; Serpens Cupiditas, and gave a Snowblood shelter outside of Saving Grace Monastery for the first time in a century.

Lady Snowblood, born 900 PD
Daughter of Ignis Snowblood and Vindicta Snowblood
Born to her widowed mother Vindicta Snowblood in the captivity of Serpens Cupiditas. Her mother made a heroic decision and entrusted Gratia Salvator with Lady whilst she herself made a distraction to get the pair of them out safely.
