Set Expectations
Section titled “Set Expectations”Set the expectations for the session and communicate any above table information FIRST before starting the session…

- Please be ready to switch for those of you playing 2 characters
- 11 characters in combat is gonna be intense so please please please be on top of what your char can do and consider multiple paths ahead of your turn (it might help if you write down the initiative order on paper or smth so u know who is before and after u)
Recap & Re-Familiarize
Section titled “Recap & Re-Familiarize”Recap the previous session events with brevity, then reintroduce them to the world.
Last we left off… you all - barring Graxious - made sense of the incident between SHAI and Aurevald before agreeing that it was best not to discuss any further at the late hour and with an early morning ahead of you.
Most of you found your way to sleep easily - including Aurevald who dreamed about many of the events that had come to pass in the prior week-or-so. Just as he awoke - he recalled the events from earlier in the day where Lady had generously offered to pay for solid gold affects that he planned to wear to the Beck Family ball.
You awoke before dawn and quietly made your way to the city gates where Thelnyron Dose gave you a means of travel and supplies before sending you off towards the Hollow Crypt - a supposed ancient Dwarven burial grounds. The horses provided made the travel relatively effortless - whilst also reducing the duration of travel significantly. During your time on horseback some of you handled personal affairs - including SHAI who studied the convergence of the two prominent constellations in the worship of The Dungeon Master, Connor Williams.
You eventually arrived at a manmade stone structure and made your way inside - where you had to repel regularly replenishing Fire Elementals to gain access to the interior of the Hollow Crypt. Following some recent-ish footsteps - you found your way through the early chambers of the crypt whilst mostly avoiding the traps left in place by it’s ancient architects.
Eventually you arrived at a long narrow corridor that led into a spherical room with a small source of running water and 4 mostly unfamiliar individuals. As Jin tried to negotiate - tensions heightened when Axton threatened the unfamiliar adventurers. By coincidence or fate; SHAI recognized the voice of his friend GRAY and burst into the room to try and quell the tensions.
Whilst it seemed to work at first - the mighty presence of Aurevald eventually sent Ulbrig Derenge into a zealous rage.
And that’s where we’ll pick up from… with both Varg’s Valiants and The Fated Eight making sense of the events that just transpired between Ulbrig & Aurevald.
The current day is Fronmark, the 25th of Vaelorn, 920 PD. You are all unsure what time of day it is, or what the weather is like as you many hundreds of feet below the ground at this stage.

- Trying to heal Kezark once he’s down will actually heal Caesar Plight.
- The ghouls will come back to sum 5 combatants total (MAYBE)
Penultimate Moment
Section titled “Penultimate Moment”When Caesar Plight’s life hits zero his eye begins to pulse and both parties will quickly realize he cannot be killed by traditional means. Allow one or two more turn to pass before they start to notice specs of light rising from the pit below them
At the start of Caesar Plight’s next turn - one of the lights will form into a spectral Dwarf wearing ceremonial armour. The spectre will address the room and Caesar Plight will be helpless but to watch…
“brothers… sisters… gather round these brave heroes. worthier souls have not walked through our resting place since The Plight took corporeal form… It is time we pledged our lives - ‘nae our afterlives - to ridding this world of The Plight Of Graff Críoch once and for all!”
You all see a flood of Dwarvish souls rush towards Caesar Plight. Over the next 10 or so seconds - you all see Caesar Plight’s corporeal form begin to split as a Human man with brown hair and eyes falls the ground whilst
The Climax
Section titled “The Climax”You all watch as a pillar of oozing shadow erupts from Caesar Plight’s chest - as it slowly builds into a 20 foot tall serpentine entity with glowing purple eyes and dripping fangs. Batlike wings hang by it’s sides as arms with clawed tips rupture from it’s sides.
Before the creature can begin it’s assault against you - a second torrent of souls rushes at it’s eyes blinding it and leaving it frozen for a short while.
Cae’Saren, The Plight Of Graff Críoch will be frozen for one round allowing each of The Fated Eight a turn each to finish him off. For all intents and purposes it is identical to the stat block of Caesar Plight.
- Keith & The Plight Of Graff Críoch
- Lady can make a DC16 History check to see if she recalls loosely learning about Cae’Saren, The Plighted One during study about her Elvish.
The Reveal
Section titled “The Reveal”- Carmen Flint will return from a demiplane after the defeat of Cae’Saren, The Plight Of Graff Críoch and immediately rush towards the unconscious body of Keith Sail.
“KEITH!!!!!”
- She’ll reveal that Keith is her adoptive brother who’d gone missing over 2 decades ago. He’d left to find an ancient Dwarven relic but never returned.
- Keith Sail can be healed to awake within an hour and he’ll immediately apologise to Carmen Flint when he sees her. She’ll think it’s for kidnapping her - to which he’ll let slide (DC18 Insight check) to notice.
- She’ll ask if they can have a moment alone as they walk back away from the platform.
What about Kezark?
Section titled “What about Kezark?”Kezark is unconscious and can be healed once Caesar Plight has been bested. He’ll remember everything up until the day he was kidnapped. He’ll be quite weak and likely needs some fresh air - as does all of Varg’s Valiants.
The Loot Pt1
Section titled “The Loot Pt1”- Eytri Forgefist will call out to The Fated Eight should they try to turn away “Are heroes of today so noble as to leave without a reward?
- Wing introductions and give them a chance to ask any questions…
- He’ll turn away from them before raising a hand - as platforms raise from the depths below - initially leading to a stone wall before the outer layer breaks off in chunks, revealing a large carved stone door.
- The door opens revealing an ornate brass chest - the contents of which are a hefty sack of coin; as well as an assorted bag of gems worth 2500 gold. There is also a rusted battleaxe resting at the bottom of the chest.
Speaking to Eytri Forgefist about the axe will bring surprise the Dwarf and he’ll demonstrate it’s great power!
“My lad! You’ve found Fimbul - The Edge Of Winter! I thought my brother - the bloody coward - had stolen it from me when he fled during the collapse.
Not even millennia could change the fact that it is a mighty fine piece of craftsmanship, if I do say so myself. Watch this!”
THROWS AXE AND IT FLIES MAYBE 1 METER BEFORE FALLING WITH A CLANK!
“oK WELL it would work if I had Giant blood running through my veins. That was one of my brother’s grand ideas it was - the stupid idiot he is.”
Wing granting the axe to Aurevald
“May it’s edge be as sharp the first winds of the Winter that marks the end of times…” Axe is now restored
