List of Plot Points that might be involved or branched from…

Two or three paragraphs summarizing the events of the previous session. Be Succinct.

Last we left off… the 6 of you were approached by Graxious’s uncle; Drethos Longwood, who offered you a deal to disband The Snatchers and freeing their captives if you could best him in a duel. In that moment the 6 of you stepped up to the mantle of heroes and overcame the odds, despite the Leonin’s prowess with his enchanted Scimitar; a weapon called Overkiller’s Edge as you would later find out. As Drethos surrendered in battle; he commanded his followers to disband and make better of their lives than he had - before accepting his fate at the hands of his nephew.

You freed most of the captives that night, sharing words and celebrating with them before a well-deserved rest. You; assisted by a magical stone granted to Aurevald by Rootkeeper Drahn, all made you way out of the Shadesorrow Forest and towards Forest’s Edge where you were rewarded by Varg for returning Carmen Flint and the 4 generals of The Rouge. You rested in town for one more night before heading back to Rookwell the following morning.

You arrived in Rookwell as you reunited loved ones, friends, and colleagues alike as you were welcomed by all as the town’s heroes. You received your rewards from Gavyen Theos before heading out to the Ironwood Tavern

The initial event or situation to connect last session to this one.

And that’s where we’ll pick up from…

Get them back into the world. Set the scene vividly and make it feel real.

The cool but dry air of the Lowmark night reminds you that you are further inland that you had been just days ago. The town has taken their celebrations home and begun the process of reintegrating the once-snatched members of their town back into each others’ lives.

The 6 of you; heroes of the town and your mission complete, are reasonably free to do as you please. What are you all doing?

Improv session to wrap up the day with a round of drinks and some quiet scenes with each character if they want it.

Sam Braelon will follow them to an appropriate location and ask them for a “party name” - “For book keeping purposes, of course” He’ll also ask for a word with Morgyn privately, informing him that a very peculiar letter arrived for him moments ago.

The immediate action for the Party to deal with.

The news breaks the following morning that Price Kendran Vaena died earlier this year. The crown has accused assassins from Orsana of the crime and has recalled the Bellum’s Bell-Ends to the capital for reassignment. The crown is now heirless.

  • Sam Braelon/Gavyen Theos will confirm the news if asked
    • Sam Braelon (DC15 Insight) is keeping something to himself - if pushed he’ll confer that his brother admitted hearing about this from The Snatchers - who said he died during their escape from Zenytha’s prisons.
  • BLUE; with a DC17 persuasion check, will say that the he heard Drethos confide with one of The Snatchers about their escape. “Until the Prince showed up I thought we’d just gotten lucky - it was then I realised we were just a pawn on someone else’s chess board…
  • Other townsfolk have just heard rumours and/or are shocked that the King is now heirless.
    • A random townsfolk named Brayden Kith can be heard saying “If you ask me - I think Prince Dannick Vaena should be King now - he’s younger and has a young child on the way.”

*Possible paths forward - plan for a handful of scenarios *

Morgyn will receive a letter from Layton Riddle

“Dear Doctor Bone-Mask,

Well done on dealing with The Snatchers in Rookwell; my sources tell me you ventured an impressive distance to end their tyranny. It seems you’ve made friends in your time away from the Kingdom - which I am pleased to hear. Genius is often plagued by loneliness, something I can admit to feeling as of present.

I’ve heard whispers from my hideout that confirmed my hunch about the puppeteers within our Kingdom’s Court. I fear news that might strike close to home will arrive at dawn.

I think we need to talk; face-to-face, so please make your way to Roan; discretely but promptly, and I’ll make my presence known to you there. It’s too risky to reveal specifics at the moment.

R”

  • Graxious has a Nightmare about eye/curse
    • Lost in a tall, dark forest shrouded in lingering darkness, allowing no light to shine.
    • There is a continual ominous presence all around you; you’re not sure what’s happening but your head is pounding.
    • You eventually stumble upon a pond where you stop for a drink. As you look in the water you see your reflection; and all you see is a glowing red eye staring back at you. Your face lights up in agony as the pain moves down your body. You look at your reflection again and your face is withering away - as is the rest of your body, except for the glowing red eye…
    • You collapse by the pond, inches from the water, and you’re losing strength fast. In what feels like your final moments - a calming gust of wind blows by granting you a temporary reprieve. (DC13 Wisdom Saving Throw) At advantage if he recognizes that this is Seedara and makes any effort to call out to her.
      • Failure means the dream ends in a cold sweat - unsure what to make of it.
      • Success means that a piercing bright light appears in the sky - as plants bloom from the ground and surround your body. You lie their surrounded by nature, protected by it’s life. It is clear
  • Respond to each of the four elements wielded by the Snowbloods. They have already responded to Fire. Each element wielded in their proximity reveals a new word:
    • Fire == Ignis == Fire Damage
    • Earth == Terra == Thunder Damage
    • Water == Aqua == Cold Damage
    • Air == Aer == Lightning Damage Revealing all four words will allow the item to be attuned to and allows the wearer to commune with an unknown member of their bloodline for a limited time before going dormant for an unknown period of time.

Jin; before bed, gets an OOBE with a shadowy figure. They are the (D12 + D4)th Successor to the Path Of The Heavenly Demon. The older they are - the less detailed the shadow is. They converse and impart wisdom on the young martial artist.

Improv this conversation at the table.

“You would do well to remember; my predecessor, that the world is not all that your eyes see. Sight alone is trivial to trick by those with ill-enough intent. Heed my advice and learn to see beyond sight itself.” The shadowy figure will lose all features and surround Jin’s shadow - before merging with it.

  • 15 hexes to Roan - 75 miles - 2-3 days minimum to Roan.

Horses: Travel on horses will be provided at a discounted rate for saving Darren Stock. He’ll provide 6 horses; including feed for the trip to roan, for 175 gold - that’s the cheapest he can do and stay in business.

Clarify that Horses/mounts allow double the usual movement speed for 1 hour and then require a 1 hour short rest to do that again. Effectively, it takes 1 hour off each day of travel.

COMBAT WITH 2x Bandit, 1x Bandit Chief, 1x Master Thief

After the fight they’ll realise one of the members is wearing different clothes to the others; clothes that look like that of The Snatchers

Found during their journey on the roll table; about to start a show OR on the final day of their journey; on the side of the road packing up from a show where Magico says they’re heading towards Rookwell to celebrate the news that the town is free of The Snatchers.

Circus Members:

  • Miles ‘Magico’ Magico - Ringleader
  • Davyna Coppertent - a Half-Elf woman, amateur-illusionist who performs wild stunts with audience members
    • Believes that Rickard Birch is trying to date her daughter and doesn’t like that
    • Her husband died in an accident after leaving the circus one day so she keeps Sabrynthia Coppertent close at all times.
  • Sabrynthia Coppertent - a Half-Elf woman, daughter of Davyna known for her signing ability and good looks. Often helps with the performances.
    • Good friends with everyone, but she has dreams of her own outside of the circus - her mum won’t let her leave.
  • Rickard Birch; a Human puppeteer known for his comedic ventriloquist acts with the puppet; Birchy
  • Blythe, The Blade Eater; a Half-Orc male who each blades of all shapes and sides with seemingly no affect to his body.
    • His wife left and shamed him after their son was stolen by a group of bandits. He lost everything and has been forced to perform to make a living.
    • Suffers from alcoholism.
  • Stenn & Pheller; two; one Elvish and Gnomish, men who perform a duo act comedically exposing bad magic acts and then performing much better versions in their place.
    • They’re not being paid as well as they should for the traffic they bring. Stenn Stunt wants to leave and perform their own act in Zenytha but Joseph Pheller is loyal to Miles ‘Magico’ Magico for the time being.
    • Their philosophies align on this - normal things that appear magical are truly wonderous things for children, adults, and the elderly without a doubt. It reminds common folk that magic is not something to those lucky to live near schools or be a follower of a god (Stenn Stunt does not like the divine or their followers very much.)
