Session 8 Prep

Anything above table that needs to be discussed before session.

  • Smaller, online sessions for RP consistency/worldbuilding?
  • Gentle reminded to be the audience that you would want - even if you’re not RP-ing or are involved in a scene, you can add to the RP by paying attention to them rather than your screens.

List of Plot Points that might be involved or branched from…

Two or three paragraphs summarizing the events of the previous session. Be Succinct.

Last we left off… The Fated Eight finished their journey to the city of Roan and quickly offered tour guide services by one Thomas Urgide. Thomas Urgide gave you a map and showed you to key locations around the city - one of which being the Roan Chapel where you reunited with Axton. Graxious and SHAI relieved the Tiefling male of his watch over the Amensic Halfling Woman; the same woman you’d found a week prior on the road between Forest’s Edge and Rookwell, who had since fallen into a sudden coma upon her arrival in Roan.

You were shown around more places in the city and you noticed a contingent within the city vocalizing their support for Dannick Vaena; brother of King Terick II, to take over as King following the recent news of the Prince’s death. You also caught wind of a rumour about missing staff at a pub known as The Rowdy Roan and agreed to return at night to speak with the owner for more details.

You afternoon plans were derailed by a cry for help from the centre of town - where you saw a Civil Corps member surrounded by the now-drunk protestors you’d seen earlier that day. The 5 of you swiftly dealt with the drunkards before a sharp cry filled the silence that followed…

You all; helpless to respond as shadowy hands locked you in place by the ankles, saw a man standing where Thomas Urgide had been a moment prior before violently stabbing Lady Snowblood in the back - rendering her paraplegic in a single moment.

“My dear Lady - you might’ve been ready for Moretti but you weren’t ready for me. My work here is done”
- Thomas Urgide’s words before vanishing into thin air

In a desperate attempt to save Lady; Aurevald cast a healing spell on the Female Monk. At first it seemed to help her but she shortly thereafter began to writhe in pain, before going limp on the floor. Shocked as you all were, Lady Snowblood had been killed in broad daylight, in sight of all but SHAI and Graxious.

The initial event or situation to connect last session to this one.

And that’s where we’ll pick up from…

Get them back into the world. Set the scene vividly and make it feel real.

  • Afternoon of the 12th of Vaelorn, 920 PD.
  • There is a crowd forming around this attack as Civil Corps members began to tend to their colleague and assess the situation in front of them.
  • A member of the Storm Corps can be heard shouting commands
  • Cynthia Glint is directing people away from the body and is inspecting around for signs of the assassin.
    • A DC14 perception check will see her swipe Lady’s bracers

The immediate action for the Party to deal with.

*Possible paths forward - plan for a handful of scenarios *

Riff until there’s a stall - they’ll be approached by a Storm corps member and shown to the HQ.

“One of my soldiers tell me you protected a Whitecloak from harm - for that, you have my gratitude.

I also heard that you lost one of your troupe shortly following that - a rouge assassin with an eyepatch if my intel is correct - for that, you have my sympathies.

Should you seek revenge - I have an associate who might be able to help you with information that could help.”

  • Returning to The Rowdy Roan at night will introduce them to the owner (check if I had already given out a name otherwise the name is Grez Klimmet)
  • Owner is a Half-Orc male - middle aged.

Owner will be clearly distressed upon entry but is adamant he doesn’t know anything about the missing staff.

He’ll let slip about a letter if pushed hard enough and a DC14 Insight will reveal that he got a warning letter from a cult that his staff would suffer if he didn’t support The True Monarch in the coming weeks.

He’ll say that he saw the letter dropped by a halfling male wearing a grey outfit - but hasn’t seen anything since. He doesn’t want to report to the guards as he fears they won’t take him seriously and arrest him instead.

The party can inspect Lady’s corpse - being held in a chamber at the Roan Chapel for a proper ceremony after an investigation by the High Governor

  • A gruffer exterior than The Rowdy Roan and more reserved clientele.
  • The owner is a man named Garhys Steele - a rugged Human male.
  • Serves drinks at an affordable price.

Speaking with Garhys Steele - he’ll affirm he’d heard of a man with an eyepatch going around town but the identity kept changing, as did details of his appearance.

The party can probe into his backstory if they want but at this stage he’ll only reveal he was once a high ranking military officer

IF Moretti is mentioned - he’ll show a sign of recognition at the name and mention there’s a wealthy man from Gerward with the same name.

He’ll ask questions about what the party remembers of Lady’s past and if she had reason to have enemies:

  • Where was she from?
  • Who were her parents?
  • Was she on the run from someone/something?
  • Was there any other reason she/your troupe would have enemies after you?

On the 13th of Vaelorn onwards - 75% chance that Morgyn receives a letter from an anonymous figure.

“Dear Doctor Bone-Mask,

I profusely apologize but our meeting will have to be delayed a while longer. I’ve received disturbing intel that those pulling the strings have caught onto my trail and I must recede into hiding once again.

I am remiss to leave you out on the lurch however, and so I have sent a pupil to Roan in my stead. Please visit The Sanguine Script and ask for ‘a head-scratcher amidst a sea of mind-numbers’ - the proprietor of the shop should know where to direct you from there.

I also want to express condolences for your fallen comrade - my sources informed me she was slain by an assassin wearing an eyepatch. I have suspicions that there might be a connection to this and the larger plot at play - but I cannot deduce a concrete identity of the assailant at this time.

L.R”

If Aurevald makes an attempt to speak with his patron - he’ll see a large, withered tree. He’ll find himself in a:

  • 1-2: the peak of a mountain with a howling wind that he cannot resist but be blown upwards and into the sky, where he’ll be freefalling and eventually hit the mountain peaks again.
  • 3-4: at the seafloor of a frigid ocean- he’ll eventually succumb to drowning and wake up gasping for air.
  • 5-6: in an opening of a dark cave, upon taking a step he’ll hear a rumble as the cave begins to collapse inwards. He’ll suffocate in the rubble and awake with a pain.
  • 7-8: in an arid desert oasis, upon taking a step he’ll experience a burning sensation all over and succumb to the pain.

In all cases - he hears: “You have awoken The Husk. I have Power if you have Will. Release my bindings and will grant you unfathomable magic.”
